Summary

Information processed locally on your device

Fewest accesses and stores certain information on your device so it can work as a home launcher.

Installed app information

Fewest accesses installed app information provided by Android, including app labels, package names, component names, launcher activities, app icons, and user/profile information such as work-profile app entries.

Fewest uses this information to:

Installed app information is processed locally on your device. Fewest does not upload your installed-app list to developer-operated servers.

Insights

Insights shows which apps you actually use and what the rest do while you are not looking. If you allow Usage access, it reads Android’s own records of when each app came to the front and when it was last used. It reads each app’s install date and whether it came with the phone, so apps too new to be forgotten are left out and preinstalled apps are not offered for uninstall. It reads the country code of your SIM or mobile network, or failing those your language settings, only to decide whether to mention your right of access under the GDPR or the UK GDPR. Mindful Pause outcomes are stored on your device so Insights can count the times you turned back.

Insights also reads the class-name tables inside the installed apps on your current profile and compares them with a list of known tracker SDKs bundled with Fewest. No app code is run. Fewest stores only which known trackers it found in each app version, so the check does not repeat.

The tracker list is derived from the εxodus Privacy tracker database, available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0). Fewest’s copy is published at getfewest.app/data/trackers.tsv under the same licence.

With Premium and Usage access, it also reads Android’s own records of how much data each app used, and when the screen was off, over the last seven days. Fewest reads these records on demand and does not copy or store them. Private Space and work-profile apps are not included. None of this leaves your device.

Launcher settings

These settings are stored in Android app storage using DataStore. Fewest does not upload these settings to developer-operated servers.

Privacy Lock

If biometric authentication is available and enrolled on your device, Privacy Lock may use Android’s system biometric prompt before a selected app launches from Fewest. Privacy Lock does not lock launches started from another launcher, an app, Android settings, or another entry point.

Fewest does not receive or store your fingerprint, face, or other biometric data. Android performs the biometric check and only tells Fewest whether authentication succeeded or failed.

Android backup and device transfer

Depending on your Android version and device settings, Android’s system backup or device-transfer features may back up or transfer Fewest app data through services controlled by Android or Google. This is controlled by your device and Google account settings, not by a Fewest backend.

You can manage Android backup in your device settings.

Information sent off your device

Fewest does not send launcher settings, installed-app information, hidden-app selections, Exact Launch selections, Privacy Lock selections, groups, open counts, tracker scan results, or data-use records to developer-operated services. Fewest does not make network requests for launcher features.

Google Play Billing

Fewest offers an optional one-time premium unlock through Google Play Billing. If you choose to purchase premium, Google Play processes the transaction.

Through the Google Play Billing library, Fewest may receive limited purchase status information needed to provide the premium unlock, such as:

Google Play may process payment, purchase, device, and Google account information to complete and manage the transaction. Fewest does not receive payment card or bank details. Google’s processing is governed by Google’s policies and terms.

Information Fewest does not collect for developer-operated services

Fewest does not operate user accounts and does not intentionally collect or store the following on developer-operated servers:

Data sharing

Fewest does not sell personal data.

Fewest does not share your installed-app list, hidden apps, pinned apps, groups, or launcher settings with developer-operated servers.

Some information may be processed by third parties only when needed for specific app functionality:

Data retention and deletion

You can remove local Fewest data by:

Purchase state may also be reflected in Google Play’s purchase systems and your Google account purchase history. Those records are controlled by Google Play. You can manage purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and purchase history through Google Play and your Google account settings.

Fewest does not provide account deletion because Fewest does not create or manage user accounts.

Your choices

You can use Fewest without creating an account.

You can use the free app without purchasing premium. If you do not purchase premium, Fewest will not initiate the premium purchase flow.

You can clear local launcher data at any time using Android system settings.

Security

Local launcher data is stored in Android app storage and protected by Android’s app sandbox. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but Fewest is designed to minimize off-device data handling and avoid unnecessary third-party SDKs.

Children’s privacy

Fewest is not designed for children under 13 and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if Fewest’s features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
